The weeks following the 18th annual Ritzville Blues Festival have been a difficult time for the festival's organizing committee. After major drops in attendance over the past two years, the committee has reluctantly elected to end the festival. The event has traditionally averaged 1,800 paid attendees. That number fell to 1,350 in just two years resulting in significant financial losses.
The national, regional and local economies have likely led to the festival's financial down turn, a circumstance many are experiencing in their own homes and businesses.
Blues music fans and supporters of our festival have treated the committee and the event FANTASTICALLY. We are saddened by the circumstances, but will always have many wonderful memories of our fans and the fabulous entertainers who have performed here.
The 18th annual Ritzville Blues Festival was a great celebration of the Blues for those in attendance, all of our volunteers and the committee. It was a poignant high note and will serve as a good place to stop.
